Working in the community to help others

Lafayette Juniors are actively involved in sharing their hearts and time by participating in local service projects for the betterment of our community.

Pillows for hospital patients

Lafayette Juniors make heart-shaped pillows for local hospital patients. These pillows provide comfort to many different patients during and after procedures at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Oakland Children’s Hospital, John Muir Medical Center, Aspen Surgery Center, and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

We are always in need of nice fabric for these special pillows and would be grateful for fabric donations in support of this project.

Cards for seniors

Juniors write and mail cards to seniors for the holidays. For some recipients, these cards may be the only personal mail they receive during holiday times such as Thanksgiving, the New Year, and Valentine’s Day. We work in conjunction with Senior Helpline Services, a Lafayette-based non-profit organization.

Gifts and blankets for foster children

Juniors fulfill the specific wishes of children in foster care within Contra Costa County through VESTIA by providing them personal gifts for important holidays in their lives.

Lafayette Juniors also hand make and distribute fleece tie blankets to children in Contra Costa County who are in transition of leaving their homes and entering foster care. We welcome community support of this project through the making of blankets or fleece donations.
